Victor De Paula
Teaches: PianoVictor was born in Brazil and was self taught until the age of 15 when he started focussing on classical music. He studied at Escola de Musica Villa-Lobos in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and graduated in 2001.
At the age of 16, whilst studying, Victor was invited to become the Conductor for a children’s choir, and at 17 he joined a band playing Soul Music. At the same time, he began arranging and composing. On completion of his education in Brazil, Victor arrived in the UK in 2005 to pursue his music career.
Victor is interested in different music genres and has been involved in co-writing, composing and arranging for up and coming singers such as Matheus Melo and Lotus Grey. He has spent time performing corporate gigs with the band Soulful and played with the guitarist Deicolas Neves. He has also maintained his interest in choral music and has been musical director for choirs in London and Stevenage.
Victor has a lifetime of experience in music education and enjoys working with all ages. He is currently working as a peripatetic music teacher in Harpenden with children who have different learning abilities.Victor’s approach to teaching is to encourage playing by ear, and by imitation whilst incorporating theory and note reading. His aim is to build his pupils confidence and to develop their performing skills in their own style; to achieve their full potential whilst remaining within the parameters of their chosen genre.
