Who we are

HCM Music Academy has been involved in music for over 30 years.

Music education has been taking place at HCM Music Academy’s premises, in Baldock Street, Ware since December 1986. In the beginning there was a Yamaha Music School teaching keyboard and organ which operated alongside “Make Music” which became one of the UK’s biggest musical instrument retailers by the late 90’s.

In 2005 Make Music sold the business in Ware and from there, the shop and music school re-launched as “Play Something”. In 2015, Playsomething rebranded as “HCM” and at the same time chose to focus purely on music education.  Today HCM operates as a music academy at it’s original premises in Ware as well as teaching in several schools across the East Hertfordshire area.

For children aged 7+, and adults of all ages and abilities, HCM delivers group and one-to-one music lessons across a range of instruments including electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, drums, piano & keyboard, vocals and music theory. For those keen to learn some new creative skills, we also offer lessons in music technology, as well as Little Musicians classes for children aged 3 to 6.

Our HCM Academy offers free WiFi and has been designed to provide a safe and welcoming environment so you’ll feel comfortable during your time with us. Our professional facilities include rehearsal rooms and performance areas, containing industry-standard equipment and software from top music brands such as Marshall, Yamaha, Roland, Orange, Mapex, Shure, Apple, Logic and Ableton.
