HCM bass lessons are a great way to learn to play the bass guitar, develop new skills and improve your technique, whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned professional.
They’re suitable for students aged 7 and over, right up to adults, and take place every week at HCM Music Academy. You can choose from group or one-on-one classes, and they last either 30 or 45 minutes – it’s totally up to you.
HCM bass guitar lessons cover the whole spectrum of styles and genres, and you’ll learn bass techniques such as slapping, popping, hammer-ons, pull-offs, harmonics and slides. The exact format and content of your lessons each week will vary depending on the size of your class, your level and the interests of you and your classmates.

As well as bass lessons, HCM bassists are encouraged to take part in our end of term gigs and showcases. This helps students gain experience in playing live and in front of an audience, as well as giving useful experience and a new found confidence.
At HCM we offer graded instrument exams because it allows you to measure your improvement over time. Our lessons all follow the RSL graded bass guitar syllabus from Debut to Grade 8. For teenage students, these graded lessons can complement other activities, such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme or GCSE Music.
