Music Lessons

We offer engaging piano lessons for all ages, with options tailored to your pace. Learn on professional pianos, explore diverse genres and gain confidence through live performances and personalised guidance.

Lessons Overview

Whether you’re a child or an adult, our piano lessons at HCM are designed to make you a confident, creative pianist. No matter your starting point, our lessons will inspire a love for playing the piano and help you build solid skills.

Choose from 30, 45, or 60-minute weekly classes, available in both group and individual settings. You’ll receive personalised guidance and the chance to progress at your own pace, whatever your current level.

Adult piano lessons are taught on a one-to-one basis, whereas children’s piano lessons are taught on a one-to-one basis as well as in groups.

One-to-one lessons mean that the student has the tutor’s undivided attention however, group lessons offer advantages such as social interaction, collaborative learning and peer support as well as being cost-effective! All of our groups are organised by age and ability and take place on industry-standard electric pianos in groups of up to four students.

    What You'll Learn

At HCM, our piano lessons span a wide range of musical genres including classical, pop, soul, rock, and more. Each week, you’ll dive into techniques such as chord progressions, arpeggios, and improvisation, with lessons tailored to your level, and interests.

    End of Term Gigs

In addition to lessons, HCM piano students are invited to participate in our end-of-term gigs and showcases. These events offer invaluable experience performing live in front of an audience, helping students build confidence and stage presence, as well as being a great opportunity for friends and family to see the progress made throughout term.

    Exams and Awards

At HCM, we encourage students to take graded instrument exams as they provide a structured way to measure progress. Our tutors are experienced in preparing students for RSL, Trinity, and ABRSM exams from beginner to Grade 8. These exams not only track improvement but also help students develop poise in performance—a skill that carries over into many areas of life. For teenage students, piano lessons can complement activities like GCSE Music or Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes.

As an official exam centre for both Trinity and RSL, we provide our students the opportunity to take their graded piano exams on-site, in a familiar and welcoming setting.
