Lesson Overview

Whether you’re a child or an adult, beginner or advanced, our violin lessons at HCM are designed to meet your needs and are tailored to your individual goals. No matter your starting point, our lessons will inspire a love for playing the Violin and help you build solid skills.

Lesson Options

Choose from 30, 45, or 60-minute weekly classes on a one-to-one basis.. You’ll receive personalised guidance and the chance to progress at your own pace, whatever your current level.

Lessons are billed on a termly basis, but we’re happy to offer a one-off trial lesson. This gives you the chance to meet the tutor, discuss your goals, and get a feel for what you’ll gain from our piano lessons before committing to a full term.

What You’ll Learn

At HCM, our Violin lessons will cover techniques relating to correct handling and posture, bowing patterns, finger placement, music theory and much more. You’ll have the option of following along a graded exam syllabus or simply learning to play the music you love.

End-of-Term Gigs

In addition to lessons, HCM Violin students are invited to participate in our end-of-term gigs and showcases. These events offer invaluable experience performing live in front of an audience, helping students build confidence and stage presence, as well as being a great opportunity for friends and family to see the progress made throughout the term.

Exams and Awards

At HCM, we encourage students to take graded instrument exams as they provide a structured way to measure progress. Our tutors are experienced in preparing students for RSL, Trinity, and ABRSM exams from beginner to Grade 8. These exams not only track improvement but also help students develop poise in performance—a skill that carries over into many areas of life. For teenage students, Violin lessons can complement activities like GCSE Music or Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes.

As an official exam centre for both Trinity and RSL, we provide our students the opportunity to take their graded piano exams on-site, in a familiar and welcoming setting.
