Ajit Gill
Teaches: DrumsBorn in South-East London, drummer and producer Ajit Gill’s early years at school displayed a strong passion and drive for music which lead to flourishing his skills on a range of instruments and studio production.
Continuing his pursuit to further develop his musicianship and instrumental skills, 2019 has seen the completion of Ajit’s intensive studying at the renowned institute, ICMP London working closely with industry professionals such as Gabor Dornyei, Richard Spaven and Xantone Blacq (Amy Winehouse’s Musical Director) achieving a First Class Hons. Whilst simultaneously studying and building the beginnings of his, sure to be successful career, Ajit has performed and worked alongside a large variety of artists and bands in the studio and live. His positive and driven attitude has lead him to multiple, major, headline performances at some of the UK’s biggest festivals such as Glastonbury and Standon Calling, together with numerous large European tours as a session musician.
In addition to his large repertoire of diverse session work, one of Ajit’s original projects is spiritual nu-jazz duo, Vertaal. The duo since have had multiple radio plays and interviews on BBC, opened for Richard Spaven at Cambridge Jazz festival, headlined many Sofar Sound London shows on top of multiple sold out nights at Pizza Express Jazz club, Soho and Ronnie Scott’s jazz club supporting Mark Guiliana (David Bowie), Pete Ray Biggins (Level 42) and their own headline shows. Labelled as ‘Ones to watch for 2019’ by Jazz Refreshed, the duo performed a jaw dropping showcase to a sold out audience at the Jazz Café, Camden. The Duo have a number of releases and large performances to be announced throughout 2020.
Following on from his education at HCM Music College and ICMP London, Ajit has gone on to produce his solo music/projects and is developing a diverse portfolio of library music in his home studio in Hertfordshire. The release of his first two captivating singles onto major platforms in 2019 has received multiple radio plays on BBC Radio. This lead to a live performance and interview on BBC 3 Counties radio displaying unique arrangements of Ajit’s original tracks and October 2019 saw Ajit invited to perform at a large BBC introducing event at the queen Elizabeth hall, Southbank centre. Ajit is currently working on and developing a record, expected for release in mid to late 2020.
