Lucy Yates

Lucy’s drumming journey began at the age of nine—or even earlier, if you count the hours spent enthusiastically tapping out rhythms on pots and pans with wooden spoons! Her love for percussion quickly grew, leading her to play in bands throughout her teenage years. She later trained at East 15 Acting School, where she developed her skills as an actor-musician, deepening her understanding of musical storytelling and performance.

Since then, Lucy has built a diverse career as a drummer, touring nationally with theatre productions, composing drum parts for new musicals, and working as a session musician for a range of emerging artists. With experience across multiple genres and performance settings, she brings a well-rounded and dynamic approach to her teaching.

As a tutor, Lucy is passionate about making drumming accessible, inclusive, and most importantly—fun! She tailors her lessons to each student’s individual goals, whether they’re complete beginners or looking to refine their technique. In addition to in-person teaching, she shares engaging drum tutorials on TikTok, inspiring students of all ages to pick up the sticks and develop their confidence behind the kit.

With her warm, encouraging teaching style and wealth of experience, Lucy is dedicated to helping every student find their rhythm and enjoy the journey of learning drums.
